Wall to wall comedy at this show. A jam-packed dead to rights laugh factory.
Experimental comedy is the number one place to see comics ply their trade and test their new material. No topic is too safe, no cow is too sacred. Whether it’s a step by step demolition of a bikie ex partner, or riffs on the ex partner of an ex barrister, these stand-ups get under the crowd’s skin, stomp around on their funny bones and nurture them back to a happy medium for the next act.
This is an experimental night, and not all material hits home first time, but this is what makes this show so special. You feel part of the creative process where the passion these guys have for their art is visceral.
Stand outs on the night I saw were the charming and loquacious Blake Richardson, the witty Jarred Duggan and the wonderfully dark Chris Pucilio, whose brand of dark comedy is evolving into a particularly interesting stage performance. Nikki Valentine, new to the scene, gave a performance that is bound to get better and better as time goes on. MC Shaun Conway got the crowd going between acts, all of whom killed.
