About Us

ARTRAGE INC is a not-for-profit registered charity dedicated to fostering arts and culture in Western Australia. Through events such as the FRINGE WORLD Festival, Rooftop Movies, RE//PERTH, and other activities ARTRAGE aims to enrich the cultural landscape of the region. The following sustainability information relates to venues and activity directly managed by ARTRAGE.

ARTRAGE acknowledges its responsibility to reduce its environmental footprint and promote environmentally responsible practices. We are dedicated to continual improvement in sustainability across all our activities. 

Each year, ARTRAGE conducts a rigorous review of our sustainability practices, demonstrating our dedication to continuous improvement in pursuit of our sustainability objectives. This ongoing process ensures that our initiatives remain relevant, effective, and aligned with our long-term sustainability goals.

Key Actions

  • Explore partnerships with renewable energy providers. 
  • Promote energy-efficient practices at events through staff training and signage. 
  • Communicate Sustainable Packaging position to all food and beverage vendors. 
  • Identify opportunities for repurposing or redesigning existing items for extended use. 
  • Establish criteria for evaluating potential purchases based on life cycle analysis principles. 
  • Explore collaborative relationships with venues and partners to identify potential water-saving initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with arts organisations and cultural institutions to broaden impact of sustainable practices within the arts community. 
  • Implement procedures and assign responsibility for switching off powered devices when not in use and/or prior to leaving each day. 
  • Advocate for industry-wide standards and initiatives that promote sustainable waste management practices within the arts and entertainment sector. 
  • Develop a system for collecting feedback from event attendees and staff regarding waste management practices and identify areas for enhancement. 
  • All major activities (1000+ patrons) will have dedicated waste sorting stations equipped with clearly labeled bins for compostable, recyclable, and general waste to minimise contamination. 
  • Support and promote initiatives that advance environmental sustainability within the arts, such as award programs or educational workshops for artists and cultural practitioners. 

The above are the just some highlights of the key initiatives ARTRAGE will look to implementing from 2024 onwards. Annual adjustments will be conducted to assess progress and make adjustments as needed.

FRINGE WORLD X Bettercup

As part of our sustainability efforts, FRINGE WORLD and Bettercup are partnering to make this year’s Festival a model of sustainability and waste elimination. With Bettercup’s locally made, high-quality reusable cups, FRINGE WORLD is eliminating single-use cup waste and reducing environmental impact in a powerful way.

Each cup is crafted for hundreds of uses, enabling Fringe-goers to enjoy every drink while contributing to a cleaner, greener future. This partnership underscores FRINGE WORLD’s ongoing commitment to a sustainable festival experience, making each sip a step towards meaningful change.
