Ruah Community Weekend is here! 2-4 FEB, 2024
ARTRAGE, the organisation behind FRINGE WORLD Festival has partnered with Ruah Community Services for a second year to help raise funds for their vital services. This year’s partnership aims to spotlight the vital role each community member plays in eliminating Family and Domestic Violence (FDV).
This year’s focus on FDV introduces the “What’s Your Piece” campaign, encouraging individuals to consider their role in solving FDV and stressing that small actions can make a significant difference. A powerful video featuring influential leaders was unveiled in December aligning with the government activation, 16 Days in WA, to raise awareness of gender-based violence.
Jo Thomas, CEO of ARTRAGE, emphasises the impact of Ruah’s work and talks about the significance of this collaboration: “ARTRAGE presents the largest arts Festival in the State and we feel a responsibility to use that platform. By partnering with Ruah Community Services, we can bring awareness and raise funds to support Ruah’s commitment to working with vulnerable and disadvantaged people in WA. This year’s focus on family and domestic violence is crucial as it highlights the collective responsibility, we all share in creating a safer community.”
Throughout the 2024 FRINGE WORLD Festival, awareness activations will include the Ruah Community Weekend from 2nd to 4th of February 2024. This weekend will feature a Rooftop Movies screening, and multiple public donation points throughout the festival site. The Ruah Community Corner will also feature at The Pleasure Garden, bringing awareness and education to FRINGE WORLD attendees.
Audiences attending the festival will be able to donate to Ruah when purchasing tickets via the box office, website, or FRINGE WORLD app over the fundraising weekend. The second year of Partnership will be looking to build on the success of last year where over $10,000 was raised from donations across the weekend.
This partnership between FRINGE WORLD Festival and Ruah Community Services reflects a shared dedication to amplify awareness and drive meaningful change for those experiencing family and domestic violence in Western Australia.
