Registrations open for 2017 FRINGE WORLD events and venues

The massively popular FRINGE WORLD Festival is inviting artists and venues to register their interest in presenting events at the 2017 Festival.

The multi-arts Festival has in five short years grown to become the third largest Fringe in the world and the largest annual event in Western Australia. The 2016 Festival featured 713 events at 159 venues and delivered more than $8.3 million in gross box office payments to Festival events.

As an open-access Festival, individuals and performing companies from Western Australia and anywhere in the world choose to present their show in the Fringe and submit a registration. Unlike traditional arts festivals like PIAF, FRINGE WORLD doesn’t curate the program, which means that artists control the vision, creativity and business management of their work.

The open-access model of the Festival extends to venues, with independent performance spaces in Perth and Western Australia invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to present events in their venues for the 2017 Festival.

FRINGE WORLD is already recognised as one of the friendliest Fringes in the world and an attractive performance platform for a wide range of artists. The Festival is committed towards providing even more support to Festival artists for the 2017 Fringe. Key to this support is providing artists with more information and data about the Festival to enable artists to make an informed decision about whether Fringe is the best platform for their work.

Venues and artists that are considering whether to present a show at the 2017 Festival can find more information about what’s involved with putting on a show at the Fringe via the FRINGE WORLD Toolbox.

Independent venues have until 1 August to submit an EOI to get their venue on board with the 2017 Festival. Artists who want to perform their event in a FRINGE WORLD Hub (i.e. The Pleasure Garden and pop-up venues in the Perth Cultural Centre) have until 22 August to register. The final day for registering an event in the Festival is 26 September.

More information about FRINGE WORLD including the social, cultural and economic impact of the 2016 Festival is available in the 2016 FRINGE WORLD Impact Report.

FRINGE WORLD will bring another round of summer delights to Perth in 2017 from 20 January to 19 February. Tickets for the 2017 Festival go on sale 8 December 2016.
