Opening weekend success!
Posted in Media Releases
FRINGE WORLD has already welcomed more than 60,000 free and ticketed attendances since opening on 14 January and the fun is just getting started with loads to see every night through til 13 February.
ARTRAGE CEO Sharon Burgess said that a particular highlight from the opening weekend was the inaugural FRINGE Sunday Funday, supported by Lotterywest, which attracted more than 12,000 people to Northbridge.
“We are overjoyed with the affection that Perth has shown for FRINGE WORLD 2022, and we’re seeing around 40% new customers who are buying tickets for the first time, which is fantastic to have alongside our regular Fringe Bingers,” Ms Burgess said.
“Our artists can see the joy and thrill in people’s eyes, even with masks required in venues, and our performers are very grateful for the support of the community. Artists have done it tough because of COVID and every ticket purchased to FRINGE WORLD directly supports their creative efforts.”
Ms Burgess said that it was devastating that there had been other events in Perth that had recently had to cancel due to COVID, and she wanted to assure the people of Perth that Fringe is a safe and fun event that only comes round once a year – so let’s all make the most of it!
The 2022 FRINGE WORLD program features more than 500 shows performing at 109 venues in 31 suburbs all across Perth and featuring more than 1,900 artists.
Tickets to FRINGE WORLD Festival are available from fringeworld.com.au or from the FRINGE WORLD app. The Festival runs until Sunday 13 February.
FRINGE WORLD gratefully recognises the support of its partners including: Principal Supporter: Lotterywest; and Government Partners: the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the City of Perth.
