FRINGE WORLD IS BACK!

The anticipation is palpable as FRINGE WORLD prepares to return with a bang this Friday, January 19th, promising a summer filled with extraordinary live performances and pure delight for all. The Festival has kicked off its 2024 Program in full force, with January ticket sales reaching an all-time high, surpassing both 2023 and pre-pandemic levels.

Jo Thomas, CEO of ARTRAGE, expressed her excitement for the upcoming festival, saying, “FRINGE WORLD is a turbo-charged Festival specifically created for Perth. The diversity of options at the Festival is truly remarkable. From captivating shows for the kids to sophisticated performances that cater to a range of tastes, the Festival offers an escape from the ordinary and a chance for all to revel and play in the unique Fringey vibe.”

Audiences are in for a full-flavored treat this Fringe, with over 550 unique events set to take the stage across over 106 stunning venues, catering to all tastes and budgets, with ticket prices maintaining an average of $28-$32 since 2017.

Full-Time Students, Pensioners, and Senior or Health Care Card holders can now, for the first time ever, snag 15% discounts with a range of Concession tickets. Those hungry for a more elevated experience can select from the new Premium range and indulge in reserved front-row seating or cocktail and cabaret experiences.

For the next 31 days until February 18, audiences will be spoiled for choice across the City of Perth, with 48 inner-city venues playing host to an absolute buffet of local, interstate, and international acts and events on show from Rockingham to Wanneroo and everywhere in between.

This year, Fringe introduces Perth’s newest pop-up Grandstand adventure at L’Euro Grande, a stunning warehouse transformation that seats over 800 people and welcomes the return of ‘the big shows.’ Delight in sizzling performances from Bernie Dieters Club Kabarett, Hans Disco Spectacular, Briefs Dirty Laundry, and a school holiday special with 360 ALLSTARS.

The Pleasure Garden returns and is brimming with original recipe delight (did someone say Poffertjes!?). Choose from cheap thrills at an unexpected new Side Show or revel in heart-thumping circus from Barbaroi, award-winning comedy at Pear, or captivate the entire family and back-flip into PreHysterical.

Expect all the trimmings at the new Independent Hub Fantasia, explore hidden wonders at Rocky Fringe, laugh until you cry with world-class comedy at Comedy Lounge in Fremantle or Perth, or roll on the floor laughing all the way to Comedy Shack in Wanneroo. Crowd favorite The Rechabite is back, playing host to a star-studded lineup with History of Haus and Ruben Kaye, and The State Theatre Centre offers up multi-award-winning cabaret and variety with Messy Friends.

The success of ticket sales is a testament to the festival’s undeniable appeal, drawing audiences to experience a myriad of shows across all genres. FRINGE WORLD extends its gratitude to partners, including Principal Supporter Lotterywest and Government Partners: The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and The City of Perth.

Minister Templeman acknowledged the festival’s significance, stating, “FRINGE is a cornerstone of our festival season, bringing communities together to revel in its performances.” The State Government’s continued support, with $2.7 million provided through Lotterywest this year, reflects a commitment to enhancing access to the arts and supporting local artists.

As the final countdown to opening night begins, FRINGE WORLD Festival 2024 is set to deliver another unforgettable event, weaving together a tapestry of instant entertainment set to captivate audiences all across WA and celebrate the vibrancy of the arts in our wonderful and vibrant State.
