FREE FRINGE FUN

Celebrate the opening weekend of FRINGE WORLD with a big free street party!
FRINGE Sunday Funday is a giant, free, community event taking over William Street, Northbridge from 1.00pm to 6.00pm and made possible thanks to FRINGE WORLD’s hero supporter, Lotterywest.
Three performance spaces will showcase 28 shows, offering a sample of the FRINGE WORLD 2023 program and giving a free taste-tester of the comedy, circus, dance and cabaret shows on offer during the month-long Festival.
ARTRAGE CEO Sharon Burgess said that after a fantastic launch of FRINGE Sunday Funday last year, FRINGE WORLD is excited to be presenting another free fun afternoon for families and entertainment-lovers.
“The atmosphere at FRINGE Sunday Funday is wonderful, with kids, families and everyone experiencing open-air Fringe entertainment.” Ms Burgess said.
“The Festival program is huge but if you visit the Funday you can get a quick snapshot of what’s on offer to help you decide what to see.”
Lotterywest and Healthway CEO Ralph Addis said Lotterywest is all about bringing people together through the arts.
“$1.2 million is going towards the 2023 FRINGE WORLD Festival as part of a $3.6 million Lotterywest grant over three years,” he said.
“Lotterywest is thrilled to once again be supporting the FRINGE Funday Sunday, now in its second year, giving all West Aussies the chance to experience some family-friendly entertainment for free.”
New things to entertain you at the Funday include more roving performers, stilt walkers, bubbleology, body art painting and the Kleenheat Silent Disco.
Alfresco dining and cool, shady spots to sit and enjoy the atmosphere will be in plentiful supply so that you can grab a takeaway from one of the many Northbridge restaurants and bars in the area.
If that’s not enough to tempt you, it’s worthwhile coming just to marvel at the impressive 3,000 sqm of bright PINK astro turf that will be on the road stretching between Roe and Francis St.
FRINGE Sunday Funday supported by Lotterywest is on January 22 from 1.00pm to 6.00pm.
The 2023 Festival runs from 20 January to 19 February. Get tickets now at fringeworld.com.au or download the FRINGE WORLD app.
FRINGE WORLD gratefully recognises the support of its partners including Principal Supporter: Lotterywest; and Government Partners: The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the City of Perth.
