3 X the fun at FRINGE WORLD
Posted in Media Releases
FRINGE WORLD Festival 2023 had three times the number of people seeing shows in its opening weekend compared with the year prior, with tens of thousands of Fringe fans enjoying ticketed shows at venues all over Perth, in addition to the free entertainment on offer at FRINGE Sunday Funday.
ARTRAGE CEO Sharon Burgess said that the people of Perth had responded to FRINGE WORLD’s call to get out of the house and give the local, international and interstate artists a resounding welcome.
“It was wonderful to see audiences reconnecting with live entertainment and having a great time seeing shows with their friends and family,” Ms Burgess said.
“Our artists are buoyed by the warm spirit of audiences, they feel welcomed and appreciated. With so many shows selling out on the weekend, I encourage people to plan early or come mid-week to avoid missing out.”
FRINGE WORLD has 545 shows to choose from, appearing at 117 venues all over the metro area – offering absolutely everyone in Perth the opportunity to find some feel good entertainment over the four-week festival.
A sample of the variety on offer at FRINGE WORLD this week includes the one-woman rollercoaster ride of Cassandra Barbitoll (VIC, Perth Cultural Centre), high-energy kids show Strictly Barking (INTL, The Pleasure Garden), Scottish comedian Gary Macalister: IRON BRO (UK, Liberty Fringe), ripper yarns with Aaron Gocs - Gocsy’s Treat (QLD, Oasis Comedy Club), magical burlesque at Carousel - Champagne Showgirls (WA, Villa Nightclub), and a romantic romp through post-war Melbourne with Barry Award nominee’s Damian Callinan - Double Feature (VIC, State Theatre Centre.
The 2023 Festival runs to 19 February. Get tickets now at fringeworld.com.au or download the FRINGE WORLD app.
