Three-time Comedy Award Winner Gorden Southern is back for FRINGE WORLD 2025 with his new show Great Southern Man, now playing at The Laugh Resort at The Shoe in Yagan Square.

Confident, charismatic, and full of energy, Gordon Southern is extremely good at what he does. He is just so likeable, and he definitely has a great stage presence. From the moment he walked onto the stage, Gordon had the audience in the palm of his hand, where we comfortably stayed for pretty much the entire show, laughing out loud throughout. Even during the slower moments, Gordon kept the crowd engaged with his natural flow and charm.

Gordon’s ability to think on his feet and turn an off-the-cuff comment into a punchline—feeding off the audience’s reactions and adjusting as needed—was also impressive. Although, there was not a lot of actual crowd work in the show itself.

This is a really fun show, with plenty of laughs to be had, covering everything from parenthood and family dynamics to mortality and the merits of dogs over cats. Beware though, he is prone to a “Dad joke” (or three), but somehow, coming from Gordon, it is actually endearing (I did not hear a single groan, promise). Such was his ability to win over a crowd.

I had never seen Gordon Southern before, but Great Southern Man was a wonderful way to get to know him. It’s no gimmicks, just laughs.
