“Recycle that, would see again”
Entertaining from start to finish, the perfect range of activities and audience interaction. It will be on my annual Fringe list from now on for sure.

The long-running improvised comedy smash hit, The Big Hoo-Haa, is back for FRINGE WORLD 2025, this year storming the stage at the State Theatre Centre in Northbridge.

For those who haven’t yet had the pleasure, the show features six up-and-coming Australian comedians split into two teams—Team Heart and Team Bone—competing for the coveted Hoo-Haa Cup (which, fun fact, is actually a primary school award received by the host in 1996!).

And what do these brave challengers need to do to win this fabulous prize? Simple: sing, dance, and improvise their way through a series of challenges designed to make the audience laugh. The rowdier the audience, the more points they win for their team.

Essentially, it’s the most fun and hilarious game night you’ve ever been to—without the risk of embarrassing yourself. #Winning!

That said, audience participation plays a huge role. Your suggestions shape each round, ensuring every show is entirely unique.

For example, tonight we saw:

  • A song about Chuck and a rap about Ben.
  • A musical about walking slowly, pigeons, and an underground choir.
  • A search for love, where top ‘attractive’ qualities included an interest in anal bleaching, being an ‘old codger,’ and having your own OnlyFans account.
  • A skit about panic buying toilet paper.
  • Some unexpected (and frankly, unsettling) comparisons between sex and camels.
  • Honestly, what more could you ask for in an evening?

Fast-paced, action-packed, and FUN FUN FUN, The Big Hoo-Haa delivers non-stop laughs. The performers are razor-sharp with their quips, keeping the energy electric from start to finish. There is literally never a dull moment.

So do yourself a favour—get amongst it!

The Big Hoo-Haa runs until Saturday, 8 March 2025.
