2 Englishmen and an Aussie walk into a bar...the Rooftop Bar of The Brass Monkey, to be specific.
Crude and comical, sharp and cynical, this fast-paced show offered a variety of comedy stylings. With three comedians each performing a fifteen minute set, prepare to enjoy a captivating mix of cheap shots and elaborate jokes that will have you roaring throughout.
Starting strong with our Aussie comedian Andrew Wolfe, the show began with high energy raucousness. Several times I found myself gasping at the sheer audacity of it all, while simultaneously succumbing to the outrageous humour that is not often heard in your usual everyday conversation. The blatant disregard for political correctness was delivered in such a way that had everyone belly-laughing, an excellent start to the night.
Our middle act, Irishwoman Maree Bourke served a different aura, with a cooler storytelling approach. Although she had a different style of delivery, this was just as captivating, forcing everyone to listen and follow along in order to truly get the punch lines once delivered. This stripped back conversational manner served as an interesting contrast to the comedians on either side of her.
To finish off with a bang, UK rising star Kelsey De Almeida performed with a fantastic blend of both high energy jokes and conversational audience engagement. Many a front-row-sitter were called upon to tell their story, with the chance of being received somewhat politely or getting absolutely ripped to shreds.
All in all, giggles and grins were present on faces all around. If you'd like a night of laughter, and are prepared for it to be at your expense, this is absolutely the show for you. Don't miss out on 2 Englishmen and An Aussie this Fringe season!
