The Basement at The Stables proved to be a suitable venue for this small, intimate show by Jonathan Mill, a multi-faceted theatre performer and aficionado. In his one-man performance that was very ably supported by Bev Kennedy on keyboards, he regaled the audience of a dozen or so admirers and theatre lovers with songs, slides, and soliloquies from snippets of his 40-plus year career of singing, dancing, acting, and playing musical instruments.
He started in 1982 when his journey in theatre and cabaret began and sang and performed songs for us like "Mein Herr," "The Boy Next Door," "Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Weeny, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," "I've Got a Crush on You," and "Love is in the Air."
Jonathan participated in (or endured!) 2,000 auditions throughout his career and performed in over 150 different shows, including 1,000 performances of West Side Story. He reminisced about many of his interesting and fun experiences.
One highlight of his impressive career was serving as the coordinator for The Sydney Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, a real feather in his cap.
Jonathan Mill is now headed to Adelaide, so you won't be able to see him and "My Life In Art" at FRINGE WORLD until perhaps next year.
