This show is the perfect entrée for a Fringe Feast. Whether you sketch on the side or can barely draw a stick figure, you’re guaranteed to leave with a laugh, smile, and some terrible drawings to stick on the fridge after this Fringe show.

The concept is simple; each week a new comedian takes centre stage for life-modelling and comedy. With the help of the charming host, Ruven Govender, the comedian slash life-drawing model will guide you through several fun poses based on different art disciplines such as Surrealism and Cubism. Our model for the evening was the quick-witted Sean Michaels.

Kissajukian and Michaels together were funny, incredibly supportive and great at getting the crowd involved. The poses are short, giving you roughly 5 minutes per round. Be prepared for your sketchbook to be snapped up by the model for a mid-sketch review at any time. The audience participation element was great, with positive heckling even getting Kissajokian to join in on the modelling at one point during our show.

This is less comedy show and more funny bloke strips to his jocks. So don’t go in expecting to hear a polished skit, as most of the jokes were making fun of the model or the audience’s attempts at art. You quickly realise that the worse your drawings are, the better.

This is a great beginner-friendly show if you’re interested in life drawing but are intimidated by the serious art world. Here, it’s less about the quality of the final product and more about the fun you’ve had along the way.

Pencils and sketchbooks are provided, and you’re welcome to bring your ‘masterpieces’ home at the end of the show to frame.

Overall, this is a great interactive show for your next hot date or as an excuse to catch up with mates as you can chat and test out each other's sketching skills all with a drink in hand.
