If you’re struggling to choose amongst the many many glorious shows available this Fringe-mas, then this is a great option for you! With a bit of this and an iddy bit of that, Proud Entertainment Group have pinched the best of the West to perform in this variety show each weekend of Fringe. And it’s well worth a watch!

Local drag legends, Dean Misdale and Ginava, are your hosts each evening with Dean beginning the night by showcasing their impressive vocals and getting the audience to sing along… if they’ve had enough chardonnays by 11pm that is! Witty remarks and audience participation are a wonderful welcome to what more is to come.

On the night this reviewer attended, the first performer was Lucy Luxe with a titillating twinkly show that had the audience giggling mischievously over and over. Her use of humour and rather ridiculously sized props got us all asking, what on Earth will she do next? A fantastic way to start the night; leaving us beautifully baffled and eager for the following performer.

A pleasant surprise was Lisa Woodbrook with her comical rendition of our favourite Bublé hits. Not your typical talent to see at a late night cabaret show, but a welcome one indeed. Her voice is pitch perfect - you cannot fault it. But what impressed me more was her unexpected, hidden talent for choosing the absolutely ideal audience member to perform alongside her with a heart-breaking mimic display of raw emotion that had me roaring – perhaps one too many chardonnays on my part!

Out came next was a mythical creature like no other. Miss Martini Foxx allured us with her cutsie yet unwittingly scary burlesque performance. A newbie to the Perth burlesque scene, this glittery girly girl is one to keep an eye out for!

My personal excitement grew wildly as I immediately recognised the following performer – host and multiple award winner, Ginava. Their exceptional talent for lip-syncing, miming, clowning and obscure dance moves is undeniably legendary. The audience rollercoastered from laughing in stitches to utter bewilderment as we watched Ginava’s transformation from one bizarre character to the next in a completely mashed mash-up.

Second to last was a sneak peak of what Cameron the Magician has to offer. Local Perth performer, this guy is a frequent face at Fringe. A reliable entertainer, you know you’re going to be amused when Cameron gets on the stage.

And finally, like a lullaby to send us off to bed with sweet reminiscence of our childhoods, our night finishes with Dean’s Disney display of a song we all recognise… well everyone except my partner apparently! Dean’s glorious voice impresses us once again and Ginava’s comical interruptions leave us tickled, entertained and somewhat puzzled.

Overall, this variety show is definitely a bang for your buck. In a little over an hour, you’ll laugh hysterically, cackle profusely and become increasingly bemused. Absolutely recommended for anyone new to Fringe and of course, returners to Fringe will love these legends too!
