FairyFales vs Disney is an enchanting and hilarious storytelling experience which combines a small hint of history, comedy, and the stories we all use to know and…love? 

Fairyfales vs Disney produced by FairyFales is a storytelling comedic experience which utilised the tradition of spoken word to retell the original tales from much loved legends and stories from Pinocchio to The Little Mermaid. 

The performers consisted of comedians and performers Leigh Fitzpatrick, Jamie Cook, Felix Camponovo, Beck Thorman, and Courtney Maldo.

FairyFales vs Disney was presented at The Belgian Beer Café for FRINGE WORLD and occurred in a little backroom with three rows of seats and a stage area where the performers wandered about as they told their story – almost like the audience were gathered around a fire, waiting to be taken away to another world. 

Each individual performer had a story to tell and used their natural charisma to enchant and entertain the audience with their love of history and all things original and factual – with a splash of Disney antidotes to sweeten or sour the pot.   

Something during the production that stood out to this reviewer was the fact that some of the storytellers alluded to the title of the original tale they were presenting until the very end. This left this reviewer excited and shocked both the intensity of which the story was being told as I waited for the story title to be revealed. 

During the whole event, you could feel the energy in the room and could tell that these performers cared about what they put on the stage and wanted to share their excitement with the audience. 

Though somethings to comment about would be sometimes the stories were rushed which could be influenced by the excitement in the room or keeping within the timing for each individual performer - but that is also something that happens when you’re bursting to share a new piece of information with the world or just naturally excited/nervous. 

The art of storytelling is 100% prominent in FairyFales vs Disney and it is definitely a must see for this FRINGE WORLD if you are interested in history, legends, and good old fashion story telling! Four point five stars out of five, and I cannot wait for what FairyFales brings to FRINGE WORLD next year!
